About the EPLC
The Early Pregnancy Loss Coalition was founded in 2023 by author and journalist Isabelle Oderberg (Hard to Bear), Miscarriage Australia co-founder Dr Jade Bilardi (Monash University) and Associate Professor Melanie Keep (University of Sydney).
Every year miscarriage affects up to 150,000 Australians and the people who love them. Our Mission is to advocate for improved care and support for people affected by early pregnancy loss (miscarriage) and their families.
The four key goals of the Coalition are to improve: Care, Communication, Data and Research in this area. Currently, miscarriage related care, support and research is grossly underfunded in Australia. Our goal is to provide a collective voice to Government and advocate for critical changes needed to address the current gaps in patient care, support and funding in Australia.
Your role on the board:
Drive impact: Apply your expertise and skills to bolster our four pillars.
Shape strategy: Be at the forefront of developing strategies that ensure our support is trauma-informed, data-driven, and effectively communicated.
Advocate: Help secure essential funding for research and services that provide comprehensive care, both physically and psycho-socially.
Critical skill needs:
Financial and fundraising leaders: Guide fiscal stewardship to strategically support our cause and/or have grant writing experience.
Not-for-profit legal experts: Steer us through the legalities of not-for-profit advocacy with your expertise.
Lobbying heroes with previous success: Amplify our voice in government.
Tech innovators: Harness technology to advance our goals.
Previous healthcare or not-for-profit knowledge will be beneficial.
We are actively seeking board members, including:
Aboriginal leaders: Bring your insights to ensure inclusivity in our early pregnancy care and communication strategies.
Young innovators (Ages 25-40): Offer fresh perspectives to engage with the latest in data and research to shape future-focused policies.
People with disabilities: Contribute your unique perspective to enhance the care experience for all.
