EPLC welcomes abortion commitment from Victorian Government, calls for progress on miscarriage care

The Early Pregnancy Loss Coalition (the representative peak body for organisations working in the miscarriage space) welcomes today’s announcement that, if re-elected, the Victorian Government will make medical and surgical abortion care free.

Today’s announcement was made by the Victorian government with EPLC member organisations MSI Australia and Women’s Health Victoria.

“This is an important win for women’s health and reproductive choice,” says EPLC Executive Director Isabelle Oderberg.

“In line with the principles of reproductive justice, equitable access to reproductive healthcare is absolutely essential.

“We do note today’s commitment does not include D&C procedures for people experiencing early pregnancy loss.

“The EPLC is working closely with our member organisation MSI Australia to help make this a reality, so cost is also not a barrier to choice in miscarriage care.

“We look forward to progress on this issue in the near future.”
